First I planned to prepare a small T-shirt out of the beautiful fall leaves or from the cabbage. Then the assignment was to prepare new shirt out of existing one or prepare entirely new one and of my size. Before reading the assignment itself I prepared one gown from the leaves and couldn’t take a picture of it.
Then I took my old black T-shirt and designed it with the things which currently represent me 😉
I took some pumpkin seeds and created the flower design and Ravi gave an idea of smiley face and we did not have banana for smile so I thought why can’t we design with the existing vegetables or fruits. So here come the smile with green pepper and eyes out of lemon and with red tomato nose 😉
I prepared apple pie. Though I did not explain visually here I would like to explain in writing.
8 apples – peeled & sliced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter – chilled and sliced
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons flour
2 1/2 cups All Purpose flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 sticks of butter, cold & cubed
1/4 – 1/2 cup ice water
Cinnamon sugar for dusting
Preheat oven to 400ºF
Combine the flour, salt, sugar. Add in the butter and slowly gradually add the ice water.Mix until dough just comes together. Don’t overwork the dough or it will make a tough crust.
Cut into two equal sections. Pat sections into discs and wrap in plastic wrap and place into refrigerator. Chill for 1 hour. (can be frozen for future use)
In a small mixing bowl, combine cinnamon, sugar & flour, set aside. In a large mixing bowl, add the peeled and sliced apples. Sprinkle spice and flour mixture over apples. Toss to coat.
Remove one chilled disc of dough from the refrigerator and roll out on a lightly floured surface, large enough to cover your pie pan. Shape to fit, cutting off any excess.
Pour apple mixture into pie pan and add your sliced butter to the top of the mixture. Remove second dough disk from refrigerator and roll out large enough to fit the top of your pie with an overhang. Place pie dough on top of apple mixture and crimp edges to seal. With a knife, add four slits to your piecrust. Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon sugar.
Place onto a baking tray into preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes or until golden brown & bubbly. Allow pie to rest until cool before slicing. Refrigerate any uneaten portions.
Whisk 3 3/4 cups flour and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt. Make a well and add 1 1/3 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 packet yeast. When foamy, mix in 3 tablespoons olive oil; knead until smooth, 5 minutes. Brush with olive oil, cover in a bowl and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour 30 minutes
Spread the dough into desired size and spread the tomato sauce onto it. Then put the toppings of your like say tomato, green and red peppers, spinach, olive slices and mushroom.
Keep the pizza in pizza pan and bake until the cheese melts or till golden brown, about 35 minutes.
I did not understand when Ravi told about the paper world. I just imagined the collage work representing our lives. But when we saw the assignments uploaded by some of classmates I got an rough idea about it. I visualized myself in this country between the skyscrapers and Ravi leading me in his car. I like the street-lights, so I didn’t want to miss it 😉
Portrait of Ravi, drew first time and it is nice 🙂 I don’t say I have drawn nicely but it was nice try for the first timer. But the self portrait was bad. I cannot draw myself and have to take some classes !
